Former President George H.W. Bush Admitted to Houston Hospital

President George H.W. Bush hospitalized on Monday

Former President George H.W. Bush was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood a spokesman confirmed on Monday. 

"President Bush was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood," spokesman Jim McGrath said. "He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant."

The country's oldest living president served in the White House between 1989 and 1993. He is the father of both former President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush

Bush has in and out of the hospital several times over the last year, including early in 2017 when he was admitted for 16 days to be treated for pneumonia. The 93-year-old former president attended the funeral for his wife, Barbara Bush on Saturday who died at the age of 92 last week. They had been married for 73 years.
