Van Plows Through Crowd Outside London Mosque

London police are confirming that one person is dead after an apparent attack on Muslim worshipers in north London.  At least eight people were taken to area hospitals and another two people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

A little after midnight, local time, a white van rammed into Muslim worshipers outside the Muslim Welfare Center in the Finsbury Park area. Police have not confirmed the nature of the incident, but eyewitnesses say it was a deliberate attack and counter-terrorism officials are reportedly on the scene.

Police have one man in custody. Witnesses captured video of the alleged driver being taken into police custody.

The leader of the Finsbury Park mosque  is condemning what he called a "cowardly attack." Mohammed Kozbar tweeted early Monday morning saying "Our thoughts and prayers with those who got injured and effected by this cowardly attack in Finsbury Park area."  Kozbar adds that there are "many casualties in the floor."

The incident comes as Londoners are on edge following an attack earlier this month that left eight people dead.  In that attack a van rammed pedestrians on London Bridge and then the three attackers began stabbing people at nearby Borough Market.
